ColorizeOldPhotos exists because most families have a box of faded, creased prints and no easy way to bring them back. Upload a photo, and AI colorizes it, repairs scratches and stains, or does both, in under a minute.

How it works

• Colorize only uses a dedicated colorization model (DDColor) that adds color without redrawing the picture.
• Restore, or restore + colorize uses a generative image-editing model prompted to remove damage while keeping faces, poses and composition unchanged.

We chose these after testing several pipelines on a scratched, creased historical photograph. Face-only restorers left scratches and creases untouched, and some restoration services repainted faces, so we use the models that cleaned damage while staying closest to the original.

Honest limits

AI colors are informed guesses, not historical fact, and restoration of badly damaged areas is reconstruction. Your original is never changed, and your photos are deleted within 24 hours and never used for training. See our privacy policy.
